Buying a Successful Bed & Breakfast
The first time I stayed at a bed & breakfast was when my wife and I went on our first anniversary vacation weekend. We knew we wanted to look away, we just have not been sure where or the things we wanted to do.
A colleague of hers showed her a book of bed & breakfasts’ around the United Counties. She brought the book home to me to take a look to see what Believed about going to one of them for our anniversary. With zero experience (at the time) and zero understanding bed & breakfasts’ a bit skeptical. Do you really want to spend my weekend staying in someone’s home?
The more I discover the bed & breakfast lifestyle, the more I came to be intrigued, until finally my cousin got hooked and we booked a bed & breakfast in upstate Vermont. I can honestly say it was a fun time. The bed & breakfast owners treated us like royalty, waited on us like we were a king and queen, and meal truck (that was included within our purchase price) was simply unbelievable.
Since then she and I tend to be to two other bed & breakfasts, one in Williamsburg, VA and another in upstate California near Seneca Bay. Although the concept every single bed & breakfast were similar, these different in a variety of ways. For instance in Vermont at breakfast and dinner (both that were included) we sat at our table in the adjoining restaurant. In NY and VA we ate a big table with most of the other guests. In VA the owners took care of everything, well them and their kids. In NY and VT the owners ran the place but also had help to get rooms ready and look after the place tidy. In VT we had our own outside entrance to room as should the room was all of our house. In NY and VA you had your own bedroom in the same house with the other guests.
Regardless of whichever style you choose, if you have never stayed at a bed & breakfast you should. Each one was wonderful an individual really felt familiar were part among the owner’s family as stayed there.
I would recommend first pick a point where you know you would really love to stay. Would you like the mountains? How about the sun or a tropical island? Once you understand what you want to do, then look up the bed & breakfasts as areas that you targeted and start reading up with them. Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other book stores have a diverse range of books you can think about without purchasing receive this information. Additionally you can go to check your local library or look to your bed & breakfast directory online.
Once you are supported by the location and purchase it narrowed down to one or two possible bed & breakfast choices, start pricing them out and find if they have been your budget. I will tell you that they a bit pricier then a normal hotel room (some of them anyway). However verify what type of amenities you get for your price. Most come with breakfast, otherwise always be just be called Bed & get out of my house in the early morning hours. You get the goal. Some also serve dinner and offer afternoon tea & snack foods. Find out what obtain for your money. It will definitely along with your decision.
